Lauren holds a BA in History and Art History from Columbia University and a PhD in Art History from The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Her academic research focuses on art and architecture of the early twentieth century, with a unique focus on cross-cultural exchange between Europe and Latin America. Lauren was introduced to museum education while interning at the Brooklyn Museum in 2003, and she has been working in museums and college classrooms ever since. With a dual background in education and art history, Lauren’s approach merges contextual information with an open, inquiry-based learning style that works for a diverse array of audiences.
For the past decade, Lauren has taught numerous courses at Hunter College, while also leading adult programs at the Museum of Modern Art and school programs at the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum. In 2013, she founded her own business offering private tours in museums and galleries throughout New York with the goal of making art accessible to a broad public.
When she is not running around Manhattan, Lauren relaxes at home in Brooklyn, with her husband, Micah, and their two children. To learn more about her story, listen to a Podcast interview. Examples of Lauren’s research and writing can be found here and here.
